TRAVEL IN STYLE // How to have a European Vacation from your own home

We have seen it everywhere on social media…someone somewhere always seems to be having a European vacation. And I hate to admit it but I was also one of those people! Before you roll your eyes and scroll away…I want to share with you the key elements of having a European vacation that you can get right from your own home!

1. Take on a slower pace

Everyone in Europe is at a slower pace of life. Life revolves around the after work, the time you’re not hustling. The time with laughter, friends, good wine and even better food. To take a slice of this home…make time for morning coffee in the sun. Plan a day a week to take a picnic with friends after work. Or just by yourself too. Spend it *not* on your phone, enjoying your surroundings and bonus points if there’s a view, a loaf of bread or some red wine involved.

2. Wear an effortless wardrobe

I can’t tell you the number of women walking around in these perfectly effortless maxi dresses, floaty pants, tailored denim and a crisp shirt. Beautiful full, flowing silhouettes paired with sandals or sneakers. The result is just effortless, cool, calm, collected and comfortable. Find a dress from the 70’s if you’re a more modern vintage lover, 30’s if you want something extra chic, or Victorian lawn dresses if you’re up for something unique.

 3. Find a local flea market

One of the biggest events in small towns in Europe can be the flea markets on the weekends. Spending time rummaging through old artwork, piles of old denim, sculptures and Knick knacks of all sorts might be an acquired taste for some, but it isn’t just about the antiques. It’s about the slower pace. Enjoying life and all that surrounds you. Being surrounded by beautiful things and friendly people. The antiques are however, a bonus. So many great pieces can be found here. Take a break halfway through for coffee and a pastry.
