FALL TRENDS // Vintage Edition

My top 3 trends you should be on the lookout for in Fall 2024 and what to buy!

The saying goes, vintage always comes back around. And it’s true! Every season we see some vintage item whether it’s boho fringe (70’s), denim on denim (90’s), or a mini dress (hello 60’s!)…there’s always some vintage element to each season.

I’ve been told I’m ahead of the curve when it comes to trends so let’s put that to the test shall we? (Example: I predicted about 2 years ago that the bullet bra would make a comeback and this past spring we saw multiple celebrities with bullet bra shaped dresses and tops)!

1. Clown Core: I’ve been feeling like this over dramatic, loud, bold and slightly comical type of dressing would come back since last summer. We have been through a LOT in the last few years and finally everyone is starting to feel safe celebrating life again…by traveling, get togethers, weddings etc are back in full motion.

What to buy to be ahead of the trend: huge bold stripes, large polka dots, dramatically large pant silhouettes, oversized sleeves.
Think: 1980’s and 90’s but less minimal and more the over dramatic pieces. I’ve linked a few of my favorite vintage here.

2. Edwardian Detailing: Delicate trims, extra special crochet and embroidery, delightful little details. I kept saying I was having an "antique summer" over the summer, and I feel even more that antique details are on the way IN. Antique white cotton lawn dresses and tops aren't just for summer, carry them into fall with some clever layering.

What to buy to be ahead of the trend: Victorian to Edwardian bodices, corsets, corset covers, white cotton lawn dresses. You can even find 80s does Victorian or Edwardian, just keep an eye out for cotton and delicate details too!

3. Suspenders: suspenders were a hit in the 60’s and 70’s..but the last time we saw them were in the 2000’s! Here I am rocking a pair in high school circa 2010. With the revitalization of Y2K fashion being popular, it’s only natural that other certain elements would come back into play as well. This also plays in with the clown core trend! I think we will see these in more of a feminine way on the runway, possibly embellished with rosettes or paired over the top of skirts. Or used in a different way, Suspender clipped to a handbag instead of a garment.

What to buy to be ahead of the trend: well this one is pretty obvious, but you can easily find suspenders at your local thrift shop! Usually in the men’s section, the more colorful the better!

Happy fall shopping!
